Six Generations of Knowledge

Proudly Serving Rathmines

Rathmines Butchery is built on generations of butchery knowledge, family pride and honest service. Led by Jason and Jenna Smith, the shop continues a long local story, with the Smith family and a skilled team of butchers proudly serving Rathmines from the same location for 30 years.

30 Years and Counting

A family butcher with serious meat knowledge

Rathmines Butchery is a family-owned butcher shop with deep roots in the trade and a long-standing place in the Rathmines community.

The business has operated from the same Rathmines location for 30 years, continuing a tradition of local service, practical advice and quality products made with care.

Behind the counter, the team still does things the proper way: breaking down beef, preparing sausages to recipe, making pies and sausage rolls in-house, curing and smoking hams and bacon, and helping customers choose the right cut for the meal they want to cook.

It is premium local butchery without the pretence: friendly advice, honest service and products made with care.

A Refreshed Brand

Led by Jason and Jenna Smith

Jason and Jenna Smith lead Rathmines Butchery with a mix of generational butchery knowledge, practical service and genuine care for the local community.

Jason brings deep butchery knowledge and a hands-on approach to the craft, while Jenna helps keep the shop connected, organised and part of everyday life in Rathmines. Together, they represent the balance of tradition, friendly service and practical convenience the refreshed Rathmines Butchery brand is built around.

Multi-Generation Butchers

A family legacy carried forward

While Jason and Jenna lead the business today, the Rathmines Butchery story is also part of a much longer Smith family tradition.

Jason is a sixth-generation butcher, and he is not the only Smith butcher behind the counter. His brother Stuart also works in the shop, alongside other talented and capable butchers who help keep the business running with the care, consistency and product knowledge locals know and trust.

You may also occasionally see Steve in the shop — Jason’s father, and the butcher Jason and Jenna bought the business from. The family legacy also reaches back through Jason’s grandfather Ken, who has now passed away, as well as earlier generations of Smith butchers including his great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.

After 30 years in the same Rathmines location, Rathmines Butchery continues to carry that legacy forward: knowing the cuts, understanding the product, making things properly and taking the time to look after customers.
